’95 Porsche 911 GT2 Tube Frame Race Car This is one of 2 tube frame 911 race cars built by Dr. Gus Rosenberg to race in SCCA GT2 class; he is still racing his red one today. This car was sold by Gus to a racer in Florida from whom I bought it in the fall of 2013. Since my purchase I have used it at a couple PCA test days and raced it 4 times in vintage racing with SVRA. When I bought it I knew it was coming up on its rebuild cycle at 70 hours and in the last race at NOLA Motorsports Park in October 2015 it started to puff oil smoke and by the end of the weekend it was smoking quite a bit, but still running strong. The consensus of several people I asked (I’m not an engine guy) is that it is probably a broken piston ring. I already have a ’67 Porsche and a Panoz that I vintage race, so I do not have the time to get this repaired and decided to sell it a a discount “as is”. I have been told a full rebuild would cost between $10,000 – $20,000 depending on what they find, but if you have an engine that you could swap or can rebuild it yourself, you can get a good deal on a very fun race car.
