1982 Mazda RX7 race car in good solid condition. This is a car from the SF region, from logbook looks like it was run from 2001 to 2005. l bought the car and with my mechanic we slowly brought it to life and have driven it around the neighborhood but have not yet put it on the track. I will try to attach a video of the engine running [rotarys make an awesome racket] The car drives, turns and stops well, but we have only had it on the road for 20-30 minutes twice. I cannot represents this car as fit for its intended purpose of blasting around the track, and I obtained it as is, without any representation that it would even run. It runs and that is all I can represent. Before starting, we carefully lubricated the motor for days, not wanting to damage apex seals, changed oil and it came to life. We rebuilt the carburetor and it idled and ran well. I do not know the history of this car so once again, I cannot represent its fitness for racing, nor can I opine as to the health of the rotary motor. I can say that it comes with a lot of spares, a couple more sets of stock RX7 allow wheels and tires, a door or two, a couple of fenders, and extra RX7 motor [spins free but condition unknown]. The car is very clean and has no rust and was very well put together, has an excellent cage and was elegantly built. Hate to let it go – perfect NASA track car and as 1982 can even run with one or more vintage groups. This is the GL model I believe, as it has rear disc brakes. Sold as is where is without representation or warranty as to fitness. I do not have a title as this is a race car. The passenger seat is rough fitted and not bolted in. Car came with driver seat only and we wanted to add for instructor or wife / gf (lol). This car could be a complete riot, not many still running.
I have the air cleaner assembly which is the stock system with circular holes cut to allow greater airflow. I am trying to re-post the video of the engine running; it was once up but is being rejected from the listing. Will keep trying. The undercarriage is pretty clean and I will try to post some photos.
It makes no sense that this listing keeps showing running engine video of my other auction vehicle Cortina Lotus tribute. I keep deleting and it keeps re-appearing. I do have video of RX7 engine start-up and running, will keep trying to re-post.
The video of the Cortina start-up has nothing to do with this auction. Apparently when you chose the $49 option your photos are locked in at some point and you cannot add a second video.
Comes with a racing beat header and super trap diffuser (takes the edge slightly ย off the rotary noise. Extra racing beat header and a couple of spare trannies too. If anyone knows how to add video of engine running after photos locked, please advise.
