I have raced this car with Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs since 2010 at: Blackhawk Farms, Road America, Milwaukee Mile, and Autobahn CC. MCSCC log books for this period are included. It has a 2018 annual MCSCC inspection
This car is one of 6 built by a local fabricator, the other 5 cars from this fabricator were reportedly homologated in SCCA. This car has never been to an SCCA event. I purchased it partially assembled, finished it and ran it in High Speed Autocross (Time Trials) in 2009 and have raced it in Wheel to Wheel since getting my racing license in 2010. It is a tube frame car, with aluminum intrusion protection side panels, on board fire suppression, and fuel cell bladder, and “Zero Roll” rear suspension. The car weighs about 805 pounds. It is spacious enough for my 6 foot 240 pound body. I had the roll bar professionally changed to provide adequate clearance for a tall driver. The driver restraint is 6 point camlock style SFI 2010. AMB transponder is hard wired.
I was told the engine was built by Polermo in Denver. It is a race prepared 1200 cc engine for the Formula Vee class. I have overhauled it three times. The Crankshaft is signed “Peak Performance Wedge Edge 053”, and is 16 pounds 7 oz. The flywheel is just over minimum weight. The bearings are -.020 inside, +.020 outside, 0 Thrust. The heads are VTEK. It has full flow oil filter and cooling. The case is a single relief case with no serial number, the area behind cylinder #3 has the thicker casting, there are cam bearings. I believe that this is a genuine VW replacement case. The distributor is an “009” clone with Pertronix ignition pickup. I do not know the brand of the exhaust header. The carburetor was checked by SR racing, and jets set on a dyno at a local shop. The intake manifold has the enlarged bends.
The transmission is a recent Lybarger short box. I purchased it at Bob’s “going out of business sale”. It has NEVER been shifted without the use of the clutch.
There are 12 wheels. 4 on the car, 2 with spare tires, 4 with OLD HARD rain tires, and 2 with no useable tires.
TRAILER:
The trailer was custom built for the FV by the same fabricator, and may work with other small open wheel cars such as CFF. It has a 3 x 5 storage box under the car, a tool box on one side and a storage box on the other. 4 LED tail lights and a recent rewiring. The trailer is legitimately titled in Illinois. With the car and tools on board it weighs less than 2,000 pounds.
