Spec Cayman Project
I have a 2006 Cayman S, caged race car project / “roller” available. This roller is being sold with the intention of providing an individual and/or shop with a replacement chassis for transfer of components from what I would imagine to be a severely wrecked race car…or as a head start to building a race car.
Originally purchased as a flood salvage from Hurricane Sandy, to build as a PCA Club Sport Racing “Spec Cayman”. This is the perfect head start for your Gen1 or Gen2 race car build… or ideally, as a chassis to transfer components from a wrecked race car.
This roller will work for any 2006-2012 build. I have converted three Gen1 race cars to full Gen2 specs…everything bolts up the same!
Clad in factory Porsche “Speed Yellow”, the paint is original and in fair condition, it is bit faded…and once the graphics in the pics are removed, I imagine the yellow will be fairly bright in those areas. It is possible a nice clay bar / buff out job could bring the yellow back to life!
You can see from the pictures that the cage is amazing…constructed by a professional / career welder / fabricator at The Sports Car Shop, Chantilly, Va. – one may elect to have the cage sprayed in Speed Yellow or ?? It does have some surface rust that would easily be removed via light sanding or using Scotchbrite pads then either spraying or brush/roller a nice epoxy or rust preventative coating. There are a few incomplete welds and the harness bar (included) has yet to be welded into place.
While this build was originally intended for the PCA Porsche Club Sport Racing “Spec Cayman” class, nothing has been done that would “commit” this vehicle to said class or restrict it from any other – thus it remains the perfect candidate for said class and/or GTB1, NASA GTS3 / ST3. The GTB1 decals in the pics were for a photo shoot and can be removed prior to sale…they were only applied to the driver’s side and hood for the photo shoot and shop advertisement.
Vehicle has a non-rebuilder title due to flooding. It will be sold via a Bill of Sale…we purchased it via IAAI auctions and it came with a Salvage Certificate, issued by the State of New York. Copies of all legal paperwork and a BOS will be provided to the new owner. All three personal race vehicles I own were purchased at an IAAI, Manheim or Copart auction and currently operate under a Bill of Sale and associated paperwork from the affiliated auction company.
The vehicle was exposed to approximately 2’ of flood waters. The factory interior, dash board and wiring harness have been removed for installation of the cage.
SALE INCLUDES: 2006 Porsche Cayman S Rolling Chassis w/full custom fabricated cage (race legal for PCA/NASA/SCCA), all glass except doors (windshield is cracked), factory lighting (headlights will need cleaned out), steering column (no steering wheel) custom trimmed dashboard to fit cage (black, no gauge cluster) full factory suspension w/ racing wheel studs / braking system (w/ stainless brake lines), full factory coolant system (lines, hoses and radiators/fans), factory fuel tank (currently has Gen1 Fuel Pump), fuel/PS/vacuum lines and most underbody plastics.
SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Drivetrain (engine/trans/axles), wiring harness / ECU, front bumper cover, gauge cluster / steering wheel / HVAC controls, any interior items or wheels.
