Ford Cortina Mk2 Lotus Tribute race car. This car was raced as SCCA GT4 as the logbook indicates. It is not street legal and does not come with a motor or transmission. To be clear, although the photos show it with a cross-flow motor, the auction does not include a motor, transmission or driveshaft. The car was Purpose built with dry-sumped, Isky cammed, Weber 45s, Leeson box. But note: The motor and trans are going elsewhere and not included in auction. Nor are the oil pressure, exhaust temp, water temp gauges, tach or exhaust system part of the auction as all are unique to the motor. Super clean California body, old fuel cell, roll cage, elegant aluminum paneling inside. Have logbook, has little tasteful period metal flares and clean suspension mods. I believe this to be originally a Cortina GT. It is not represented as a Lotus, I intended it as a tribute to a Lotus Cortina. This is a great basis for a TransAm U2 race car, run with the Datsun 510s…[you would have to make a super engine…lol] or shoehorn a 289 in there, make it street legal, as I intended, would make the coolest street / track cafe racer. I have had it about 10 years. Located in San Francisco area and kept indoors most of its life. Sold as a roller only, no engine or trans does not have a pink slip as it is a race car.

Additional info: the racing seat is a brand new Sabelt with brackets, but not yet mounted. The steering wheel that comes with the car is the wooden one sitting on the passenger floor, the other mounted wheel is from my other car and does not go with the auction. I attached a video of the start-up of the motor after sitting for a decade or more. I purchased this car from a well-regarded vintage racer named Nick Martin who races a Mini with CSRG. The car did not come with a Vin tag though the vin no. in the SCCA logbook is BA96 HC 86993. That, I believe identifies it as a Cortina GT from 1968. I have a new blank tag that goes with the car.

To be clear, the engine, trans, driveshaft, the gauges, i.e., oil pres, eng. temp, exhaust temp, tach, do not go with the auction.
